Surkhanda Devi
About 40kms from Mussoorie, the Surkhanda Devi Temple is a popular shakti shrine .Dedicated to Goddess Durga, the temple is set atop a peak at an altitude of 2,903mts .It takes two kilometers from Kaddukhal via Dhanaulti by trekking to reach the temple.The site brims with devotees during Ganga Dussehra Fair which is held around May-June every year.
Lakha Mandal
Located on the Mussoorie-Yamunotri Road about 80kms away,this place has strong mythological connections. As per the legend, in the great Hindu epic Mahabharata,the Kauravas has conspired to burn the Pandavas.A historic cave and an 8th century temple are its prime attractions. |
